Worship A-Z Community Guidelines
Effective date: September 5, 2026 · Version 1.0
Worship A-Z exists so that the people who pray beside each other can know each other, help each other and keep each other safe. These Guidelines explain what is expected inside the community, what happens when someone breaks them, and what we do to protect every masjid. They are part of the Terms of Service.
Our standard
Speak in the community as you would speak in the masjid, in front of the imam and your own family: with adab. Assume good intent, correct gently and in private, and keep what is private, private.
Not allowed
The following are removed and can lead to suspension:
- Harassment, bullying, threats, humiliation or unwanted contact — including after someone has asked you to stop.
- Hate or contempt toward any person or group on the basis of race, ethnicity, nationality, madhhab, gender, disability or any other characteristic.
- Sharing anyone's private information: a phone number, address, workplace, photo or immigration or health situation shared in confidence.
- Impersonating a member, an imam, a masjid, or Worship A-Z.
- Scams, unsolicited fundraising, sales, or spam. Fundraising for causes needs the masjid's permission; donations to the masjid itself go through the Give screen.
- Sexual content, or attempts to contact a member of the other community space through any channel.
- Content that endangers a community: photographing entrances, asking about security arrangements, mapping who attends which prayer, or collecting members' details.
- Anything unlawful.
Reporting, blocking and muting
- Report a member from their profile, or a message by pressing and holding it. Choose the reason; add a note if it helps. The person is never told who reported them.
- Block a member from their profile: they can no longer see you or message you, in either direction.
- Mute a member from any of their messages: their messages are hidden for you only. They are not told.
- If someone is in danger, call 911 first, then tell your masjid's administrators.
How reports are handled
- Reports reach the reported member's masjid administrators and imams in the app's Moderation queue, and the platform owner in the console.
- A moderator must act within 24 hours: hide the message, resolve, keep under review, or dismiss. Every decision is recorded with the moderator's name and reason and can be audited.
- Repeated or serious violations are escalated to the platform owner, who can suspend the account across all masaajid. Suspended members can appeal once, in writing, through Help & support.
- Moderators never see private direct messages except the single reported message and its author.
- Optional AI triage may flag content for human attention; it never removes content or punishes anyone on its own.
What moderators promise
Administrators and imams agree to act only on reported content, to treat both parties with dignity, to keep the details confidential, and to hand a report to another moderator when they are personally involved.
Directory protection
The Masaajid directory only shows masaajid near your phone until a masjid approves you, and searches are counted and logged. Accounts that probe the directory are locked automatically. This is deliberate: a full list of our communities with addresses should not exist on any phone.
Changes
We will update these Guidelines as the community grows and tell you in the app when we do. Questions or concerns: privacy@worshipaz.com (interim: mbarrom@gmail.com).
